3-star hotels, mid-tier heterogeneous, no premium brand standards required. 4-star, acoustic-backed in rooms (most chains), heterogeneous 2.5 mm + 0.70 mm. 5-star, premium ranges, often customised colour, ΔLw ≥ 19 dB acoustic in rooms.
Area-by-area
Lobby, design-led heterogeneous, possibly large-format with chevron or herringbone. Guest rooms, acoustic-backed heterogeneous, wood-look ranges. Corridors, heavy commercial heterogeneous (0.70 mm+ wear layer). Lift lobbies, homogeneous for hygienic detailing. Bathrooms: R11 safety vinyl OR large-format porcelain. Kitchen (back-of-house): Altro Stronghold R12. F&B floor, design-led heterogeneous with acoustic backing where required.
Brand standards
Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Accor, Hyatt all publish brand standards documents that reference acoustic performance for guest rooms and chair-castor rating for office/business centre. Always request brand standard from the hotel operator at brief stage.
Renovation logistics
Operating hotels require phased work. Typical: 1.5 days per guest room including welding. Public area renovations sequenced over 2-3 weeks. Floor-by-floor block-outs.
