Safety & Anti-Slip Vinyl Flooring Malaysia
Vinyl flooring with embedded slip-resistant aggregate (silicon carbide, quartz, aluminium oxide) for areas regularly exposed to water, grease, or both. R-rated to DIN 51130 from R10 (commercial) to R13 (severe industrial). The default specification for commercial kitchens, hospital wet rooms, food processing and pool surrounds.
Definition
Safety vinyl is a heterogeneous vinyl sheet with aggregate particles embedded in the wear layer that maintain slip resistance even when wet or contaminated. R-rating per DIN 51130 ranp test indicates the highest angle of incline at which a wet, oiled surface remains traversable.
How it’s made
Heterogeneous vinyl manufacturing with aggregate particles (silicon carbide for industrial; quartz and aluminium oxide for commercial/healthcare) bonded into the wear layer. Aggregate size and density determine R-rating.

Where this product is used
Commercial kitchen
R12 safety vinyl with welded seams + coved skirting + drainage integration.
Hospital wet room
R11 with heat-welded seams; supports infection control protocols.
Food processing
R12–R13 with chemical-resistant adhesive; meets MeSTI / food safety standards.
Pool surround (indoor)
R11 wet rating with continuous welded surface.
Advantages
- Slip resistance maintained even when wet or oily, not just dry
- Heat-weldable for hygienic detail in food/healthcare environments
- Coved skirting compatible
- Multiple R-ratings allow precise specification per zone
- PUR-finished options available for easier cleaning
Honest trade-offs
- Aggregate texture is harder to clean than smooth vinyl, requires brush-augmented machine scrubbing
- Do NOT polish or wax, strips slip aggregate (causes warranty void + safety failure)
- Higher cost than standard heterogeneous (RM 18–40/sqft)
- Not appropriate for areas where wheeled traffic (chair castors, trolleys) is the dominant load

Installation overview
PU adhesive system for water-immersion-resistant bonding in wet areas. Heat-welded seams mandatory in commercial kitchens and hospital wet rooms. Coved skirting with welded internal corners. Maintain drainage falls per manufacturer / specification.
Maintenance overview
Daily brush-augmented wet mop. Weekly machine scrub with red pad (NOT abrasive scrubbing). Use degreaser in commercial kitchens. Never polish or wax, destroys slip rating. Inspect quarterly for aggregate wear-down in heavy-traffic zones.

Frequently asked questions
- R12 minimum (DIN 51130). Areas with sustained grease exposure may require R13. Always pair with welded seams + cove skirting + drainage falls.
- You can, but the aggregate texture is harder to clean than smooth vinyl. Use safety vinyl only where slip resistance is actually required.
- Yes, if maintained incorrectly. Polishing or waxing strips the aggregate. With correct maintenance (brush scrub, no wax), slip resistance lasts 10+ years.
